EN 81-80 : A new standard with a great future.

The EN-81-80 of December 2003, Safety rules for the construction and installation of elevators – Existing elevators – Part 80: Rules for the enhancement of safety in existing passenger and goods elevators, categorizes various risks and risk situations, based on a risk analysis. It also provides a list of corrective actions to ensure a gradually improvement of the safety of the existing elevator park in Europe.

European standards for existing lifts is a powerful tool which contains the list of 10 recommendations to improve safety (95/216/EG). This list was launched in 1995 by the European Commission. SNEL should be used as a technical guide, to promote progressively and selectively the safety of existing lifts.
